“Movement, culture”

He grew up in a family of educators where playfulness and in-depth knowledge were at the heart of teaching and knowledge sharing. For Milan, teaching is a communicative process based on the continuous reconstruction of knowledge, which constantly rewrites the process of practice and interpretation.

Milan Ujvari has been teaching contemporary dance technique and improvisation since 2012 such institutions as the Hungarian Dance Academy, the University of Theatre Arts Budapest, and the Budapest School of Contemporary Dance. Ujvari strives to encourage his students to deepen their practice and to see movement as a holistic language in which they can express themselves socially, physiologically and physically. His personal intention is to see the human body as a collection of memories that can form not just a temple but also a playground.

He has been involved in dance and various movement techniques since he was six years old. He is greatly influenced by the principles of classical ballet, contemporary and modern dance, Flying Low and Passing Through techniques, the free creativity of various urban dance techniques, the world of Capoeira and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the science of Yoga, and functional strength training also specifically within the StrongFirst Kettlebell methodology.

Milan holds a master’s degree in modern dance teaching (Hungarian Dance Academy) beside he is a StrongFirst Kettlebell instructor and Functional Movement Screen specialist and he has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in ZR Team Hungary.
